Customer Service so Terrible, I Never Even made the Reservation
I normally don’t take the time to
fill out reviews but I feel it’s my obligation to assist fellow members of the armed forces that may be suckered into staying at this establishment. We are a military family about to transfer to Fallon, NV and we were looking for somewhere to stay while waiting for base housing to become available, which could take a few months. We needed accommodations for a large family and the Fallon Lodge seemed right based on the information on their website (http://www.fallonlodge.com/index.htm). They offer inexpensive multiroom family suites and additionally attractive accommodations. I am not one to wait until the last minute to make arrangements, so we wanted to secure a place to stay well ahead of time.
Their website lists room rates for daily and weekly stays for all room types. We have been told that many hotels/motels in Fallon offer military discounts. Flat out...the owners’ professionalism is terrible. Their thick accent makes it very difficult to understand them and their comprehension of the English language seems lacking, making it very difficult to communicate effectively. Because of the good deal, we were extremely patient in trying to make sure we got all the necessary information about Fallon Lodge to ensure we were making a good decision.
Over the span of about one month we have called five times in an attempt to get information about their establishment. It has required a great deal of patience in dealing with the owners, which seem to consist of just a husband and wife. The first time I called, I thought the husband was drunk, I so I tried calling back later that night thinking someone else would be at the front desk. The second call was answered by the wife whom is not capable of answering the simplest of questions and simply passes our calls to the husband, whom I try to avoid. A third try got me no further in accomplishing my goals. With each call the owners are impatient with questions and continually pressure us into making a reservation. When asking about a military discount, they told me they would give me a deal and quoted daily rates that were actually higher than those advertized on their website! What a deal! Their answers provided about the suites were inconsistent for the same questions asked each phone call. On one call, I actually got as far as inquiring about suite availability and they told me they don’t make reservations two months in advance but instead to call back a week before we arrive. I’m sorry, but I don’t like not having a confirmed place to live one week before moving my entire family!
I had actually allowed myself to get the point where I was going to email my questions to my sponsor in Fallon and have him go in and speak to them in person and take pictures of the suites we were interested in. I figured I try one last time to talk to the owners myself. When I called, the wife answered and was stumped by my very first question; “How many bedrooms does the Two Room Kitchenette Suite have?” She repeatedly responded with how many beds were in the suite and tried to get me to make a reservation. When she could not satisfy my question and I would not make a reservation, she passed me to her husband. At first he answered the first half of my questions, and they actually matched previous responses. When I asked about a military discount, he said yes and quoted me $60 per day, which was $1 higher than the advertized rate. Ah, yes, the only place in the world where I can have the privilege of paying more for being in the military! As I started my questions about the Three Room Family Kitchenette Suite, he hung up on me! No accidental disconnection, or oops I accidentally hung up, he mumbled something and hung up on me!
I called back three times to ask why he hung up on me. The first two calls were ignored. The third call was answered by the wife and she told me they were busy. I asked if there was a higher manager to speak to and she told me that she was it and then she hung up on me!
These people must be doing very well for themselves, because if they took just a moment to realize they stand to make at least $3000 from our stay, you’d think they would at least humor me. Needless to say, we will not be staying at the Fallon Lodge this summer. Reading the review about this establishment posted at tripadvisor.com confirms my suspicion that this place is poorly managed (a more polite description than the one in my mind right now). I can’t believe that I almost went to such ridiculous lengths stay at this place because of their low rates! The managers of the Fallon Lodge are rude and intolerable. I plan to spread the word at my new command and those personnel transferring their. I will also dedicate a small place on my website to provide some accurate advertising for the Fallon Lodge.
