About District of Columbia Accomodations
Washington DC is the capital of the United States. This region is also known as the District of Columbia, and it is planned and owned by the federal government. It is arguably one of the most important cities in the U.S. due to the fact that it holds the White House, Capitol Building, Washington Monument, and a number of important landmarks. The architecture of Washington DC is very impressive, and it is worthy of being a capital of one of the most powerful countries in history. Each year, millions of people visit Washington from around the country and the world. Washington DC is home to so many attractions that it is difficult to mention them all in this article.
Tourists will want to see Capitol Hill, the Supreme Court, Library of Congress, National Postal Museum, and the White House. Washington DC is also home to the National Gallery of Art. In the past, the White House was open to the public, and it frequently hosted tours in which tourists were allowed to go inside. Because of recent terrorist concerns, the White House is no longer as open as it used to be. The National Museum of Natural History has a number of impressive historical exhibits. Another important site is the Vietnam Veterans Memorial. To tour the White House, tourists must make reservations six months in advance, and the group can be no larger than 10 people. The White House tour is also limited to the residential areas, and political demonstrations will typically be held on the front of the building.
