About New Mexico Accomodations
New Mexico is a state that sits in the southwestern portion of the U.S. This state was once a Spanish colony in the early 19th century, and it continues to have a large Spanish speaking population today. New Mexico is also home to a large Native American community. New Mexico is the site of a number of government run institutions, and one of the most famous is Los Alamos, a science center that is known for working with high end technology. Travelers who are UFO enthusiasts will not want to leave the state without visiting the city of Roswell, where it is alledged a flying saucer crashed in 1947. This event has allowed Roswell to become one of the most popular tourist destinations in the state.
There are a number of monuments and parks that can be found here. Some of them are Chaco Culture National Historical Park, and the Bandelier National Monument. The Valles Caldera National Preserve can also be found here. A large part of the Rocky Mountains run through this state, and the Rio Grande river is also very important. If you're looking for a more urban feel, you will want to head to larger cities such as Albuquerque. In the larger cities, you will find that public transportation facilities are widely available. However, many tourists find it enjoyable to drive themselves around due to the well maintained roads. One event that is held each year is the International Balloon Fiesta. The many national parks have made this state great for hiking.
